The 2014 eSkills for Jobs Manifesto, a blueprint for building an e-skilled Europe, was launched during a recent high-level conference in Rome, organised as part of the EU’s eSkills for Jobs 2014 campaign. The manifesto, which explores the state of digital skills in a wide range of sectors, is now in its third edition.
Recognising the importance of digital skills as a way to boost economic growth and increase the competitiveness of Europe globally, the manifesto highlights the ECDL / ICDL certification as a great way to develop and demonstrate basic ICT skills.
“IT is the key differentiator in respect of new products and services. Yet, its potential is threatened by severe shortages of suitably skilled individuals. The pervasive need for IT skills across all job functions means that the promotion and use of an entry level certification such as the European Computer Drivers Licence (ECDL) would be advantageous to students, organisations and society at large.” eSkills for Jobs Manifesto 2014
